The M113 armored personnel carrier is basically a infantry squad carrier, which has the ability to float and swim across lakes, rivers and streams. It has been upgraded and modified over the years to perform different combat functions. The M113 variants include mortar carrier, anti-tank missile carrier, command post vehicle, combat engineer vehicle, battle field ambulance and logistics support vehicle etc. The M113s have been in service for around 50 years, and many Armed Forces around the world are still using them today. Its reliability and multi-functionality will ensure its service, into the foreseeable future, in a more supporting role.
